Snow cover and quality of runs in all 4 seasons


One of the major assets of this resort is its exceptional snow cover. Thanks to its high altitude, Tignes benefits from high-quality natural snow throughout the season, not only in winter, but also in spring, summer and autumn. This makes Tignes the ski resort with the longest opening period.

  • The ski area is open in summer in June and July allowing skiing on the Grande Motte glacier between 2724 m and 3456 m altitude.

  • In April and May, the slopes at Tignes, a high-altitude resort, remain open for "spring break" with an exceptional snow cover for the spring season

  • In autumn, from October onwards, you can ski on the Grand Motte glacier and enjoy the first snows. The slopes in the ski area open gradually, depending on the weather conditions

In addition, a large network of snow cannons ensures optimal conditions on the slopes, even during light snowfalls.



Ski runs for all levels


The Tignes - Val d'Isère ski area has over 160 runs, ranging from the easiest to the most challenging. Beginners can train on gentle, safe slopes (24 green runs and 65 blue runs), while experienced skiers can venture onto more technical runs, such as those on the Grande Motte glacier (40 red runs and 32 black runs). There's something for everyone in the different skiing areas.

The ski area is renowned by top international sportsmen and women for being an ideal playground for all types of winter sports, including snowboarding. Numerous competitions are held in Tignes every year, bringing together champions of international renown.

The Tignes - Val d'Isère ski area has over 300 km of marked runs. Skiers can enjoy a variety of descents, from family runs to off-piste itineraries. The famous Face de Bellevarde runs in Val d'Isère and the legendary "Double M" run down from the Grande Motte glacier, with its 1,400 m vertical drop, are a must for thrill-seekers, offering impressive vertical drops and spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

Fast, modern lifts


Tignes has one of the most modern networks of detachable chairlifts, gondolas, drag lifts and cable cars in France. The lifts offer fast, efficient access to the summits, minimising waiting times.


The Perce Neige funicular, is the longest funicular in France at 3,490 m long; it takes 7 minutes to reach the Grand Motte glacier from Tignes Val Claret, with a capacity of 3,600 passengers per hour.


The capacity of the Tignes - Val d'Isère ski area is therefore impressive, enabling large numbers of skiers to be transported in record time. This means more time on the slopes and less time in queues.
